Help Wanted for Roadside Cleanup

The second, and last, roadside cleanup for 2015 will be held on Saturday, August 29th at 9:00 am. Volunteers are needed so more roads can be cleaned.  Usually at this time of year there is more litter than in the early spring.  The group will meet at Lake Eaton and the cleanup should take no more than two hours. Please help! Thanks in advance.

Year Rounders’ Dinner Held in Lake Placid

On Thursday, May 28th, 21 friends and neighbors from AuSable Acres got together at the Cascade Inn in Lake Placid for an evening of fun, good food, and socializing. It was a lot of fun to see each other after the long, long winter. Thanks go to Mary Ann Dee and Joyce Phillips who chaired the committee and organized the dinner. If you couldn’t make it, I hope you will try to come to the next one. Even though the date and location have not yet been announced, stay tuned. You don’t have to live in the Acres year round to be welcome. Many of us are part timers and this is a good way to meet people.

Congratulations Holiday Decorations Winners

This Christmas the AAPOA once again held our annual Holiday Decorations Contest in the Acres. The judges had a hard time selecting the three winners, but they did. They are Steve Shambo, 30 Almweg Lane; Merry and Mike Stuart, 82 Fern Lane; and Lori and Kevin McDonough, 165 Scenic Point Lane. They each received gift certificates to River’s Edge Market in Jay. We hope our winner enjoy their prizes. Thanks to everyone who decorated their homes, making the acres more festive.

Flower Barrels Planted in Acres

As you walk or drive around the Acres you will see that the flower barrels have been planted once again. I want to thank Mary Ann Dee and her committee members: Dick Maloney; Barb and Frank Signorelli; Mary and Frank Krueger; Helen Miller and her son, Mark; and Frank Driscoll for their hard work.

They look beautiful and, if the deer stay away, will continue to be lovely for the next few months. If you live near one of the barrels, please help by keeping it watered. Every little bit helps.

Thanks again, from all of us.

Rosemary Barry, Pres. AAPOA
