2010 Lake Placid Ironman Needs Volunteers

The 2010 Lake Placid Ironman Triathlon takes place Sunday, July 25th.

The Ironman consists of a 2.4-mile swim in Mirror Lake, followed by a 112-mile bike ride that passes by the AuSable Acres entrance on Rte. 86… twice, and finishes with a 26.2-mile marathon.

The event brings some of the top triathletes to the area every year, as it is a qualifying event for the big triatholon in Kona, Hawaii.

One of the reasons the Lake Placid Ironman is such a success every year is the army of volunteers who help with just about every aspect of the event.  Volunteers help with everything from traffic control to medical aid to holding out drinks for passing runners and cyclists!
