Three Board Candidates Bios

Rosemary Barry

My husband, Doug, and I have owned our home in the Acres for 18 years. Since we retired as elementary school teachers we spend about 5 months a year here enjoying

our home. We have grown to love the beauty, amenities and people in the Acres. I served on the board for ten years, six as president. I left the board in 2017. I continue to be involved with the AAPOA newsletter, website and new owner information.   During my terms, we completely renovated one tennis court, installed a volleyball net, completed a pavilion at the lake and celebrated the 50 anniversary of AuSable Acres in 2013 with a great picnic and fireworks display.

I am running for a one year term to fill the seat vacated by Rick Bremer. I believe I can be of assistance to Pete DeFina and the rest of the board as they continue to do the important work that the AAPOA does in enforcing our Covenants and Restrictions so the Acres continues to be the beautiful place that we all want it to be.

Tricia Koch

My husband, Allan Watnik, and I have lived in the Acres part-time for a little over two years. We love the quiet solitude of living in the woods. We have met the most wonderful, kind people and made so many new friends. We do have ties to our home in Fairport, New York, but know that we will be full-time in the Acres when the time is right.

I have lived in upstate New York for more than forty years and was actively involved in my neighborhood association while living in Rochester. I began my career as a Medical Technologist but when I found myself doing science experiments with my Brownie and Girl Scout troupes I decided to switch careers and became a high school Chemistry teacher for the next 23 years. My two daughters continue to bring me great joy. One of my daughters just bought a vacation home in the Acres and her sister is mom to our two beautiful grand-daughters. I enjoy quilting and gardening. I love the beauty of the Adirondacks, hiking and kayaking.

The Acres is such a special place and I want to “give back.” I feel my life’s experiences will help me represent you on the board. I look forward to meeting many more neighbors and learning more about the AuSable Acres in the years to come. Thank you for your consideration.

Ian Ellbogen

My name is Ian Ellbogen.  My wife and I live and work in Montreal and we have owned our cabin on River Road for the past 18 years.  We are here most weekends and for longer periods of time quite often.  Our main activates include skiing—both varieties—and hiking the many trails and high peaks in the Adirondacks.

I am friends with several current and past Board members and have participated in past trail maintenance days and other work activities.  I have agreed to run for one of the vacant positions this year and if elected will continue to work to keep AuSable Acres a great place to own a house.

Notice of AAPOA Board Elections in July, 2018

Every year three AAPOA board seats are up for election. The election will be held at our July 7th General Membership Meeting. The term is for three years. The seats are currently held by Joe DeMarco, Paul Longenderfer and Phil Dooley. Joe isn’t running again and the others probably will run for reelection. There is at least one vacancy to fill.  You can be a part time or full time resident. There are about 5 board meetings and 2 General Membership Meetings (one in July and one in the fall) a year. Any AAPOA member who might consider this important position should send a bio (president@ausableacres.org)  by April 1, 2018 that can go in the spring issue of our newsletter. If you wish to discuss the role of a board member, or have any other questions, please contact the AAPOA at (518) 217-8519.  Thanks for your consideration.

AAPOA Board Elections Coming in July

As we do every year, three AAPOA board seats are up for election. The term is for three years. Loyd Brewer, Pat Levine and Rosemary Barry are not running again, having served on the board for many years. This year there are two people who will be running for two of the seats. There is still one vacancy to fill.  You can be a part time or full time resident. There are about 5 board meetings and 2 General Membership Meetings (one in July and one in the fall) a year. I would ask any AAPOA member who might consider this important position to send me a bio (president@ausableacres.org)  by April 1st that can go in the spring issue of our newsletter. If you wish to discuss the role of a board member with me, or have any other questions, please contact me at (518) 217-8519.  Thanks for your consideration.

AAPOA Election and Dues Reminder

AAPOA 2015 dues were due in January. If you haven’t paid yet, please download the membership form from the “Owners’ Resources” section on top of the website home page. Fill it out, include your check and send it to the AAPOA, PO Box 8, AuSable Forks, NY 12912.  Thanks in advance.

Our board elections will be held at our General Membership Meeting on July 4, 2015. There are three seats open for three year terms and one seat open for a one year term. That seat is currently held by Tim Mainzer. The other seats are currently held by Phil Dooley, Joe DeMarco and Paul Longenderfer. They have said they plan to run for reelection. Anyone interested in running for the AAPOA board must submit a short bio to me by email at president@ausableacres.org or snail mail before March 31, 2015 so the bio can be included in the spring newsletter.  If no bio is received, someone may be nominated from the floor at the July 4th meeting.

Happy New Year (and news updates)

The AAPOA board would like to wish everyone in AuSable Acres a healthy, happy 2015.

We have lots of positive things to report but for now, just a few highlights. This spring we are planning to construct the LAKESIDE PAVILION for our members’ use. The foundation was poured last September. The plans will be reviewed by JLKN and then finalized. Thanks to your generosity, our fundraising is about $1,500.00 away from our goal. Donations will continue to be accepted and if we go over the goal, we will be able to connect electricity and water at the site. We hope to be able to add some picnic tables, too. You can include a donation with your membership dues.  The membership form and Pavilion Donation form are both under the Owner Resources banner on the top of the website. Please send the pavilion donation form so your donation will be recognized on a plaque to be placed in the pavilion.

DUES COLLECTION: AAPOA dues for 2015 are due in January. If you haven’t sent yours in yet, please do so this month. The form is on the website along with our address. Thank you for your support of the organization that helps to care for our piece of the Adirondacks.

2015 BOARD ELECTION There are three seats up for election at the General Membership meeting in July. They are currently being held by Joe DeMarco, Phil Dooley and Paul Longenderfer. All of them plan to run again and their bios will be in the next issue of the newsletter. There is one additional vacancy. Tim Mainzer is leaving the board in July and there is one year left to his term. We will elect someone to complete this one year term at the meeting. If anyone wishes to run for any of these seats, please mail a bio to me or send it by email (address on website) before March 31, 2015. Please specify if you are running for the three year or one year term.

That’s it for now. There will be more news in a few days. Stay tuned.

Rosemary Barry, AAPOA President
